Flexible options for study Course credits can be transferred (either before or after graduation) directly to the Chemical Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology - Environmental or Environmental Technician programs at Sheridan, making the Chemical Laboratory Technician option extremely flexible. You'll study: Instrumental analysis and analytical chemistry Microbiology Organic and inorganic chemistry Laboratory techniques Environmental science Additional information Environmental services, energy, health care, and other rapidly growing sectors rely on chemical analysis and research – and they all need laboratory technician college graduates with specialized skills for the chemical lab. The Chemical Lab Technician diploma program begins with a solid academic foundation with courses in organic and inorganic chemistry, calculus and advanced science. Once in the workforce, the duties of graduates may include: Analyzing samples. Preparing samples and solutions, making and purifying chemicals. Technical sales for laboratory equipment and supplies. Some graduates continue their study at university to obtain degrees in chemistry, chemical engineering and related disciplines. Depending on the university, and the choice of program, they may receive transfer credits for their study at Sheridan. Graduates have completed all the academic requirements for professional certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Additional requirements for certification exist and are established by OACETT. Graduates are also eligible for membership in the Chemical Institute of Canada. Chemical Laboratory Technician courses are taught at the Davis Campus in Brampton, Ontario.
